Healthy Munchies – disguised

Healthy food is quite difficult to sell to my kids who are picky eaters – yes, I know it’s my fault. So now of course I am reaping the ‘rewards’ and wracking my brains off to sneak in healthy food into junk looking nasties.

I didn’t get to go grocery shopping so I had to go scavenge in the ref for what was available. Treasure find: potato, beef, garlic, onions, tomatoes and dimsum wrappers.

What to make? Hmmm… Potato dumplings? Similar to ravioli :). Next, how to make it taste kid friendly? Hmmm… Salt, pepper, soy sauce. Here’s a rundown of how it went:

First. Sauté garlic and onion. Throw in the beef when both are tender.


Potatoes next. Add some soy sauce. Once the potatoes are nearly done throw in the tomatoes last. We want it crisp not soggy. It actually looks like a cheap ‘ginaling’ at this point. Salt and pepper to taste.

When all is done, put in a bowl and wait for it to cool down. Prepare your wanton wrappers, spoon in however much you like and wrap however you wish. All you need is water to bind edges. Easy peasy 🙂
